The National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys invited Andy Miofsky to speak at its upcoming fall 2013 bankruptcy workshop in New Orleans.  Andy will participate  on a panel training new lawyers how to properly handle a bankruptcy case.

Missouri bankruptcy attorney Wendell Sherk joined Andy Miofsky in hosting a Joint Missouri & Illinois Roundtable discussion of bankruptcy legislative issues at Tigin Irish Pub in St. Louis Missouri in February 2013.  Special guest Tara Twomey, Project Director for the National Consumer Bankruptcy Rights Center, spoke with bankruptcy attorneys from both states about recent legislation and judicial opinions on bankruptcy.

Illinois Bankruptcy Attorney Andy Miofsky is scheduled to speak at the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys Workshop in Amelia Island Florida in 2012.  Andy will discuss the proper way to fill out bankruptcy schedules and how to discover potential problems before filing a bankruptcy case.

Andy Miofsky attended the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys annual convention in San Antonio in April 2012.  An emerging issue of concern to many Americans is the enormous amount of student loan debt.  Andy is working with a group of attorneys to formulate student loan modification policies.

Illinois bankruptcy attorney Andy Miofsky met with congressional staffers for Illinois Senator Mark Kirk and staffers for Congressman Costello and Dold and Shimkus to discuss bankruptcy issues affecting Illinois consumers.  Andy was in Washington DC attending the 2011 National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys annual convention. 

The Miofsky Law Office begins its Border to Border policy and accepts bankruptcy and debt relief appointments throughout Southern Illinois from the Mississippi River to the Indiana border.  Appointments are available in Granite City or Mount Vernon Illinois.

Andy Miofsky presented information about Mortgages and Foreclosure Defense at the 2009 Annual Seminar of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys in Chicago in May 2009.

The New York Times published a January 4th, 2008 article on the federal Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act quoting fellow Bankruptcy Law Network member and president Jay Fleischman.  Jay expressed his thoughts that insolvent debtors already were protected from tax liability for forgiven debt and the act offered little relief to those struggling with increasing adjustable rate mortgage payments.  The Bankruptcy Law Network of attorneys communicate ideas and discuss legal topics of interest among each other and publish several free blogs on bankruptcy and consumer law.

Andy Miofsky appeared in an Associated Press interview with reporter Dennis Conrad on December 5th and commented on the need for Congressional legislation to allow bankruptcy judges to modify mortgage loans.  Currently judges have the ability to change the contract terms of car loans and other debts.  Legislation sponsored by Illinois Senator Dick Durbin would enable Bankruptcy Judges to solve the adjustable rate mortgage mess.   Andy Miofsky does not believe mortgage companies can be trusted to voluntarily fix the problems they created and Andy Miofsky supports reform of the mortgage loan system.  "Too many people are suffering, and not enough is being done by the current Administration.  Congress needs to give bankruptcy judges authority to provide relief to those in need."

Bankruptcy Attorney and Consumer Law Attorney Andy Miofsky attended a two day mortgage abuse and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act workshop at the JW Marriott Resort in Las Vegas Nevada last week.   Andy Miofsky met with noted consumer law speakers Ian Lyngklip, Dave Philipps and Max Gardner to discuss recent developments and consumer protection strategies.  On a lighter note,  Andy Miofsky also had an opportunity to meet with fellow Bankruptcy Law Network attorneys Gene Melchionne and Carmen Dellutri for a buffet meal at the Bellagio Casino.  The trio later compared best office practices and procedures in between hands of video poker while watching Deluttri's University of South Florida football team on a televised game.

Consumer Law Attorney Andy Miofsky attended a Federal Trade Commission Workshop in Washington DC this October that explored the changes in the debt collection industry and whether the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act has kept pace with those changes.  The FDCPA was enacted 30 years ago.  Andy Miofsky met with various representatives from the debt collection and credit transaction processing industry, credit counselors and consumer interest groups.  Andy attended the workshop as a representative of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA).  He will present a report on his findings to the NACBA Board at their upcoming conference in Las Vegas later this month.

A Bankruptcy Lawyer Andy Miofsky will speak on current problems caused by mortgage servicers during the National Association of Consumer Advocates 2007 Mortgage Lending Litigation Conference at the Hyatt Regency in St. Louis on Saturday September 8, 2007.  Andy Miofsky will join Jacksonville Florida Attorney April Charney in a panel discussion of servicing issues after loan origination.

Attorney looks to A Bankruptcy Lawyer Andy Miofsky for bankruptcy help.  A Bankruptcy Lawyer Andy Miofsky successfully defended another attorney from a claim in bankruptcy court by a creditor.  The creditor wanted to force the other attorney to refund attorney fees.  This would have interfered with the  ability of the attorney to help his client defend a claim in state court against this creditor.  The facts did not support the request.
